Archbishop Lee Visits Kudat

Archbishop John Lee’s Visit to  Kudat

Archbishop John Lee paid a two  day  visit to Kudat  parishes.

On 18th July 09 evening , he celebrated  the holy mass at  Sacred Heart’s Church, Tajau, attended by faithful from the three parishes ;  St.Peter’s Church, Kudat, Our Lady’ Immaculate's Church, Taipa and faithful from Sacred Heart itself.

The holy mass was celebrated by the archbishop,  assisted by Fr. Edward and Fr. Yip. Besides explaining  the readings in his homily, the celebrant also urged the faithful to read the  three  readings of the day  before going to church so as we can  understand the homily better.

After the Holy Mass, the faithful were invited to a dinner at the hall. While having dinner, we were entertained by the youth there with songs and dances.

On 19th July, the faithful from the three churches met at St. Peter’s Church. At 8.30 am, the church bell was rung. While the entrance hymn was sung, a procession of the first holy communion boys and girls, readers, ministers of communion, priests and the archbishop and altar boys proceeded to the altar. It was a very solemn occasion indeed.  Kudat saw a packed church that day.

In his homily, Archbishop John Lee said that Jesus is the shepherd,

we are his sheep.  Jesus  is the One promised to the Jews,

according to texts  from  Jeremiah.  He  is a good shepherd who loves

each and every one of His sheep. We should be like Him, a good

and responsible shepherd to those under us and to each other so as

the church’s communities can love and serve God well.

When the Holy Mass ended, there were speeches from Mr. Simon Lai,

Kudat Parish Council chairman, and  Fr. Edward, the rector,

who both thanked the Archbishop for this visit. Finally Archbishop

John Lee made his dynamite speech.

It was followed by photography session and light refreshments at the hall.

The archbishop went back to KK in the afternoon.
